Air Conditioning & Heating from our Hebburn workshop
Car air conditioning does more than cool the cabin on a hot day. It also clears misted windscreens and keeps the interior comfortable year round. When it starts blowing warm air, smells musty or stops working, there is usually a cause that can be found and put right.
Banks of the Tyne Motor Co carries out air-con servicing, air-con re-gassing, air-con diagnostics, air-conditioning repairs and heating-system repairs from our Hebburn workshop for drivers across Tyne and Wear.

Specific services
Air-con servicing
Air-con servicing keeps the system working well by checking for leaks, performance, the condition of components and the cabin filter. Regular servicing helps catch problems before the system stops cooling.
Air-con re-gassing

Air-con re-gassing recharges the system with the correct refrigerant and oil to restore cooling. Refrigerant does not simply get used up, so a system that has lost gas has usually developed a leak, and we check for that.
Air-con diagnostics
Air-con diagnostics find out why the system is not cooling, making noises or smelling. We check pressures, the compressor, condenser, sensors and controls to find the fault.
Air-conditioning repairs
Air-conditioning repairs cover compressors, condensers, pipes, valves and control faults. Once we have diagnosed the problem we explain what needs replacing and carry out the work.
Heating-system repairs

Heating-system repairs address cars with no heat, cold air or a smell of coolant. Causes include low coolant, a stuck thermostat, an air lock or a blocked heater matrix. We diagnose and repair the fault.
Why choose us for air conditioning & heating
Leaks and faults found
Re-gassing alone does not cure a leak, so we find the cause as well as topping up.
Heating and cooling together
The same workshop looks after both the air-con and the heating system.
Serviced with other work
Air-con checks can be done alongside a service or repair.

Air Conditioning & Heating FAQs
Why is my car air con blowing warm air?
Common causes include low refrigerant due to a leak, a compressor fault, a blocked condenser or a control fault. Diagnosis shows which.
Does my car's air con need regassing?
If it is not cooling as well as it used to, it may have lost refrigerant. We check for leaks and recharge the system.
Why does my car air con smell?
Musty smells usually come from mould and bacteria on the evaporator or a dirty cabin filter. Cleaning and a new filter often help.
Why is there no heat from my car heater?
Low coolant, a stuck thermostat, an airlock or a blocked heater matrix can all be responsible. We diagnose and repair.
Should I use air con in winter?
Yes, using it occasionally helps keep seals lubricated and demists windows quickly.
Do you service air-con systems?
Yes, we carry out air-con servicing and checks for leaks and performance.
Is air con regassing the same as a repair?
No. Re-gassing restores refrigerant, but if there is a leak or fault, that needs repairing for the fix to last.
Can you repair a faulty air-con compressor?
Yes. We diagnose compressor faults and advise whether repair or replacement is needed.
