Accident & Body Repairs in Tyne and Wear
From a scraped bumper to a serious collision, our Hebburn coachworks and bodyshop repairs accident damage so your car looks right, drives right and is safe again.

Accident & Body Repairs from our Hebburn workshop
Accident damage is rarely just what you can see. A crumpled wing can hide a bent bracket, a bumper can cover cracked sensor mounts, and a hard knock can pull a wheel out of line. At Banks of the Tyne Motor Co we repair the whole job: the visible bodywork, the structure behind it and the mechanical parts that were affected.
Our coachworks and bodyshop in Hebburn handles accident repairs, insurance repairs, dent removal, scratch and bumper repairs, panel replacement, welding and structural work, chassis repairs, rust and corrosion repairs and full vehicle restoration, for drivers across Tyne and Wear. Because we are a one-stop motor centre, mechanical work, recovery and even your MOT can be taken care of under the same roof.

Accident repairs restore a collision-damaged vehicle to a safe, good-looking condition. We inspect for hidden damage, agree the work with you, then repair or replace what is needed, from outer panels to the parts behind them. Sensors, lights and trim that were disturbed are refitted and checked before handover.
Insurance repairs

Insurance repairs are accident repairs paid for through your policy. We can help you understand what is being asked of the workshop, supply the information an insurer typically needs and carry out the repair to a proper standard. Speak to us about your claim before you decide where the car goes.
Bodywork repairs
Bodywork repairs cover everything from creased wings to damaged doors, sills and bonnets. We assess whether a panel can be reshaped or needs replacing, repair it, then prime and paint it so the finish blends with the rest of the car.
Dent removal
Dent removal restores panels that have been knocked, dinged or creased. Where the paint is intact and the metal has not stretched too far, a dent can often be worked out without a respray; deeper creases may need filler and paint. We will tell you which applies after looking at it.
Scratch repairs

Scratch repairs depend on depth. A light scratch in the lacquer can be polished out, whereas one that has gone through to the primer or metal needs filling, priming and painting to stop moisture getting in. We repair single scratches and larger scuffed areas.
Bumper repairs
Bumper repairs deal with cracks, splits, scuffed corners and broken fixing tabs. Many bumpers can be repaired and repainted rather than replaced. Where parking sensors or cameras sit in the bumper we make sure they are refitted and working afterwards.
Panel repairs and replacement
Panel repairs and replacement tackle damage that goes beyond a simple dent. A panel may be repaired and refinished, or cut out and replaced when the metal is badly kinked or corroded. New panels are fitted, aligned for even gaps and painted to match.
Welding and structural repairs
Welding and structural repairs restore strength to areas such as sills, wheel arches, floor sections and mounting points. Safe, sound welding matters here because these areas affect how the car behaves in a future impact as well as whether it passes an MOT.
Chassis repairs
Chassis repairs address damage to the load-bearing frame or underbody, often found after a heavy impact or from long-term corrosion. We inspect the structure, check for misalignment and repair the damage so the vehicle tracks properly and sits correctly.
Rust and corrosion repairs
Rust and corrosion repairs stop decay spreading. Surface rust can be treated and refinished, while holes in arches, sills or floors need cutting out and welding in new metal. Tackling it early costs less effort than letting it spread through the panel.
Vehicle restoration
Vehicle restoration brings an older or tired vehicle back to a high standard, combining panel repair, rust treatment, welding and refinishing. Restorations are bespoke, so we start with an inspection and agree the scope with you before work begins.

Accident & Body Repairs FAQs
Can you repair my car if it is not drivable?
Yes. If the vehicle cannot be driven safely we can arrange recovery to our Hebburn workshop, then inspect it and explain what the repair involves.
Do you handle insurance repairs?
We can carry out insurance repairs. Contact us before the car goes anywhere so we can explain how the process works with your insurer and what we will need from you.
Will the repaired panel match the rest of the car?
Colour matching is part of every paint job. We match the paint code and blend the new finish into neighbouring panels so there is no obvious patch.
Can a dent be removed without repainting?
Sometimes. If the paint is unbroken and the metal has not stretched, a dent can often be worked out without repainting. Creases and damaged paint usually need filler and a respray.
Do you repair bumpers or do they have to be replaced?
Many bumpers can be repaired and repainted. Badly shattered bumpers or ones with broken mounting points may be better replaced. We will tell you honestly which is sensible.
Can you fix rust?
We repair rust and corrosion, from treating surface rust to cutting out and welding in new metal. The earlier it is caught, the simpler the repair is.
Do you check for hidden damage?
Yes. Impacts can affect brackets, suspension, cooling parts and structure behind the bodywork, and we look at what the collision may have disturbed, not only what is visible.
How do I get a quote?
Ask us for a free quote using the enquiry form or WhatsApp, with photos of the damage if you can. We may need to see the car in person to confirm the final repair.
